Living Life and Giving Back

I’ve always believed the things we hold onto—whether they’re photos, vehicles, or even a loyal dog—carry more than just weight. They carry history. They tell stories. And those stories connect us.

That’s part of why I spend time with Angels of Assisi and Southeast German Shepherd Rescue. Dogs give us love without asking for much in return, and I can’t imagine life without giving some of that back.

I also grew up with a love of vehicles—particularly Jeeps and Studebakers. They have been a thread running through my life. They’ve never let go of me. I’ve collected a few vintage vehicles that carry their own history. Off-roading in my Jeep still feels like home and is one of my favorite ways to spend a day. Vintage Jeeps carry decades of dusty trails and shared adventures.

I’m a lifetime member of the Studebaker Drivers Club, carrying forward the passion I grew up around. For me, it’s not about the shine or the horsepower—it’s about the memories that ride along and the connections we make through them. It keeps alive a passion that connects me to family and to generations of enthusiasts.

My late husband and I shared that same love of classic cars, and through him I became part of the Roanoke Valley Corvair Club. The club isn’t just about cars—it’s about community, memories, and honoring the things that continue to tie us together.

All of this has taught me something simple but powerful: life isn’t meant to be put on hold. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Live your best life now. Take the trip, drive the back road, get mud on the tires, laugh with your people, and let the dogs ride along. Adventure doesn’t have to be big—it just has to be now.

In the end, whether it’s a rescued dog, an old Jeep, a Corvair, or a classic Studebaker, I’m drawn to the way they hold memory and meaning. They remind me that life isn’t just about moving forward—it’s about carrying the best pieces of the past along for the ride, while making sure you don’t miss the joy of today.
